【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusedtoassessinsitustrengthofundisturbedsoiland/orcompactedmaterials.Thepenetrationrateofthe8-kgDCPcanbeusedtoestimatein-situCBR(CaliforniaBearingRatio),toidentifystratathickness,shearstrengthofstrata,andothermaterialcharacteristics.4.1.1OthertestmethodsexistforDCPswithdifferenthammerweightsandconetipsizes,whichhavecorrelationsthatareuniquetotheinstrument.The8-kgDCPisheldverticallyandthereforeistypicallyusedinhorizontalconstructionapplications,suchaspavementsandfloorslabs.Thisinstrumentistypicallyusedtoassessmaterialpropertiesdowntoadepthof1000-mm(39-in.)belowthesurface.Thepenetrationdepthcanbeincreasedusingdriverodextensions.However,ifdriverodextensionsareused,careshouldbetakenwhenusingcorrelationstoestimateotherparameterssincethesecorrelationsareonlyappropriateforspecificDCPconfigurations.Themassandinertiaofthedevicewillchangeandskinfrictionalongdriverodextensionswilloccur.The8-kgDCPcanbeusedtoestimatethestrengthcharacteristicsoffine-andcoarse-grainedsoils,granularconstructionmaterialsandweakstabilizedormodifiedmaterials.The8-kgDCPcannotbeusedinhighlystabilizedorcementedmaterialsorforgranularmaterialscontainingalargepercentageofaggregatesgreaterthan50-mm(2-in.).The8-kgDCPcanbeusedtoestimatethestrengthofinsitumaterialsunderlyingaboundorhighlystabilizedlayerbyfirstdrillingorcoringanaccesshole.Note18212;TheDCPmaybeusedtoassessthedensityofafairlyuniformmaterialbyrelatingdensitytopenetrationrateonthesamematerial.Inthiswayundercompactedorx201C;softspotsx201D;canbeidentified,eventhoughtheDCPdoesnotmeasuredensitydirectly.24.5.1AfieldDCPmeasurementresultsinafieldorinsituCBRandwillnotnormallycorrelatewiththelaboratoryorsoakedCBRofthesamematerial.Thetestisthusintendedtoevaluatetheinsitustrengthofamaterialunderexistingfieldconditions.1.1ThistestmethodcoversthemeasurementofthepenetrationrateoftheDynamicConePenetrometerwithan8-kghammer(8-kgDCP)throughundisturbedsoiland/orcompactedmaterials.ThepenetrationratemayberelatedtoinsitustrengthsuchasanestimatedinsituCBR(CaliforniaBearingRatio).Asoildensitymaybeestimated(Note1)ifthesoiltypeandmoisturecontentareknown.TheDCPdescribedinthistestmethodistypicallyusedforpavementapplications.1.2Thetestmethodprovidesforanoptional4.6-kgslidinghammerwhentheuseofthe8-kgslidingmassproducesexcessivepenetrationinsoftgroundconditions.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
